Senior Design Project

Home Monitor System for the PC - December 1997

This project provided the capability of performing complete Home Security Monitoring and Home Environmental Control through the use of a standard IBM Personal Computer. The project consists of five main components:

* Custom Software Program
* IBM Personal Computer
* ISA Interface I/O Card
* Junction Wiring Box
* Display Model Home

The project was designed to run on any IBM Personal Computer with a menu driven (GUI) software program under DOS. The software interface included user configurable settings and presets. An 8-Bit ISA Prototyping Card was used, with a control circuit layout of our own design, to control all Input & Output (I/O). All devices were I/O Mapped and Controlled. The devices were functionally tied together using our custom written C++ Software Program. With this package, the user has complete control over both Home Security Monitoring and Home Environmental Controls through their personal computer.
